I photo blogged a recent wedding I shot over at my wedding website Record Reveal. Phil and Laura have been friends for a good few years so it was a real delight to be able to photograph their big day. Amazing weather, amazing venue – perfect.

Lucy and Chris
I’ve been shooting some profiles of some of Liverpool John Moores’ exceptional students over the past few weeks. Here’s a couple of ‘out-takes’ from the shoots with Lucy and Chris. Thought I’d recognised Lucy before, turns out I photographed her as part of the Twilight Garden Partyat Sefton Park Palm House last year. Mean violin player besides ace student!
Weedeater – Liverpool Masque 16/06/10
Liverpool is attracting a few more harder bands these days. Still not nearly as much as I’d like to see around here. Liverpool’s music scene still needs a kick up the arse with more representation from metal and urban acts, but we got a good gig last week. It’s not often you see a gig where every band is good. Infact, I think this maybe the only time its happened for me. Local guys Dragged into Sunlight kick things off. They stand with their backs to the audience, with a load of mic stands floating around, with no lights, apart from a tiny glimmer of red and a eye blasting strobe behind the drummer. Difficult to take photos yes? YES. VERY. No flash, I got em.
The rest of the acts are all from the US. Saviours play next, a instant blast of Californian heavy rock, groove driven, they were great real solid performance. Black Cobra play next, a drummer and a guitarist/vocalist creating such an enormous sound that the ear plugs are having a ‘mare keeping the sound down. They’re amazing though, so tight and I don’t think I’ve seen a drummer hit the drums as hard since Alfredo Hernandez (massive Mexican guy in Kyuss/QotSA) did on the first UK Queens of the Stone Age tour. Finally Weedeater take the stage, the one thing about this band, is that you can smell them before you hear them. Approaching the front of the stage theres a strong smell, it’s not body odour, its things, substances. Yes, they’re all off their heads, but they blast through a fun, rocking set puncutated by vocalist ‘Dixie’ swigging from a beer, shots of whisky and a bottle of cough syrup.
Great show. More please Liverpool.
BBC Countryfile at Wirral Kite Festival 2010
A beautiful, BEAUTIFUL Saturday at the Wirral Kite Festival last weekend. BBC’s Katie Knapman and her Countryfile crew were in attendance interviewing various folk (including kiting legend Robert Brassington from Tasmania) and capturing the vibe of this brilliant event. New Brighton, being right on the mouth of the River Mersey is an ideal position with coastal winds so there were a good few happy kite fliers.
Even got to take Erin and Sarah along (a rare occasion on a job!) and Erin freaking loved it. So much so that we’re taking a trip to the beach today for some more!
Behind the Scenes at Liverpool Soundcity
Rosie Parsons over at ‘The Photography Parlour‘ invited me to write a ‘Behind the Scenes’ diary whilst covering Soundcity. I’m pretty rubbish at writing and my partner in crime Sarah had to practically re-write all my terrible grammar, but its up and live. Go have a quick read if you fancy!
